On Saturday May 6, a crowd of fashion and music enthusiasts came together to celebrate children’s artistic accomplishments in a combined fashion show and music recital extravaganza at St. Paul’s Church.
Hearts and Crafts Fashion Studio partnered with the Orillia Music Centre to showcase the children’s work as they presented their second annual fashion event. The crowd cheered and appreciated the unique looks of each designer’s collection and hard work that went into creating a fashion story come to life.
Among the debuting featured designers were Oliver Xing, showcasing ‘Pokémon Anamorphs’; Eleanor Delong showing ‘Enchanted Forest’; Hannah Fernandopulle showing ‘Magical Fairy Purses’ and Shanya Sturrup showcasing ‘Colours of Shanya’.
All four fashion collections were filled with youthful energy, creativity, and passion. People got to experience the extraordinary talents of these young children aged six to 12.
Hearts and Crafts Studio owner Sabrina Dodgson believes that “all children are capable and confident learners.” Therefore at every level of show development they have children leading the charge — from assistant teachers, to hair and make-up, the designers, and all the models.
The Orillia downtown church space at St. Paul’s was transformed for this event to allow the children to share with the audience both their artistic design expressions and musical talents.
Hearts and Crafts studio has been open for the last two years. Located in downtown Orillia on the upper level of St. Paul’s Church, they offer arts and crafts drop-in as well as sewing and fashion design classes for children 4-14 years old.
